Distance Education Pre-Conference

This workshop will introduce participants to the elements of putting together a strong distance education program at the state, regional and local levels. The session will explore the various facets of developing a distance education program including developing a plan, funding the effort, identifying state leadership, training teachers, selecting technologies and curricula, developing local expertise in distance delivery, and assessing program progress. The presenters are directors of Project IDEAL— a national consortium of 20 states that are working together to create effective distance education programs in their states. Handouts will include the Handbook of Distance Education for Adult Learners, a distance education planner for states and a guide to distance curricula.
