Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) Certification
Optimal was awarded the 8(a) certification by the U.S. Small Business Administration in September 2003. The benefits of this certification include:
- Participants can receive sole-source contracts, up to a ceiling of $3 million for goods and services.
- Federal acquisition policies encourage Federal agencies to award a certain percentage of their contracts to SDBs; over 25 Federal agencies can contract directly with certified 8(a) firms.
- 8(a) firms can form joint ventures and teams to bid on contracts, enhancing their ability to perform larger prime contracts and overcome the effects of contract bundling, the combining of two or more contracts together into one large contract.
